Edinburgh based newspaper The Scotsman has been integral to the Fringe since the start, and has become known for its comprehensive festival coverage in August. Originally, it aimed to review every show on the Fringe.[114] Now they are more selective, as there are simply too many shows to cover, although they do see almost every new play being staged as part of the Fringe's theatre programme, because of their Fringe First awards. For many years, the Scotsman's Arts Editor, Allen Wright was a familiar figure at the Fringe and today, the young critics' award is named in his honour.[115]

Several mobile devices, including the Motorola RAZR, andour media tablets were developed for 4G LTE networks. We introduced enhanced enterprise-ready capabilities and cloud-based services, such as MOTOCAST. During the year, we shipped over 42.4 million mobile devices, including 18.7 million smartphones compared to over 37 million mobile devices, including 13.7 million smartphones, in 2010. Revenues inMobile Devices grew 22% in 2011 compared to 2010. Growth was driven largely by high performance smartphones and media tablets which also contributed to a higher overall average selling price. Geographically, revenue grew in all major internationalmarket regions, but was particularly strong in the priority markets of China and Latin America. In North America, we launched our first smartphones with two major U.S. carriers, however revenues in the region declined due to increasing competition,particularly from Apple and Samsung. The business’ operating loss increased in 2011 due primarily to non-recurring income in 2010 related to a legal settlement and a 9% increase in operating expenses driven by sales and marketing costsassociated with growing our business offset partially by the higher gross margin related to the increase in revenues.
